Wise Factoring helped a new construction temporary staffing business secure a £40,000 invoice finance facility, with the facility going live and the initial advance released by the funder, within five working days of getting in touch.
Case study at a glance
Industry: Construction temporary staffing start-up.
Challenge: Paying workers on 30-day customer terms, with no established trading history and a director who is a non-homeowner.
How we helped: Arranged a £40,000 invoice finance facility, with the funder releasing the initial advance within five working days.
Outcome: Working capital to pay workers and support further approved jobs, with follow-up support through a bank payment hold.
The challenge
The business had secured work supplying three construction workers to a site, but its customer paid on 30-day terms. With staff to pay before the customer settled its invoices, the company needed working capital to support its first contract.
As a new start-up with no established trading history, led by a non-UK national who was not a homeowner, its funding options were limited. The business needed a provider willing to assess the customer, the work being undertaken and the supporting paperwork.
How Wise Factoring helped
Wise Factoring identified a specialist invoice finance provider able to consider the circumstances and guided the business through the application.
This included helping clarify the fees and coordinating the information needed for approval, including invoices, evidence of ongoing work, customer verification and company banking details.
The resulting facility provided:
- A £40,000 funding limit to start.
- An 80% initial advance against eligible invoices.
- Selective customer financing, with all invoices for each chosen customer included.
- Credit control and bad debt protection, subject to the facility’s terms.
The facility went live and the funder released the initial advance within five working days.
Support after the funding was arranged
During a courtesy follow-up call, Wise Factoring discovered that the company’s bank had held the incoming advance while carrying out verification checks. Although the funder had sent the money, the business could not yet access it to pay its workers.
Wise Factoring helped the business understand its next steps and offered to coordinate contact with the finance provider if the bank needed further verification.
The customer subsequently visited the bank’s branch with identification and supporting evidence, after which the money became accessible. A further follow-up confirmed that the issue had been resolved.
The outcome
The business gained access to funding against approved invoices, helping bridge the gap between paying its workers and receiving customer payments. It also had a facility in place to support additional work, subject to customer approval and available funding.
The case demonstrates that a construction staffing start-up can secure invoice finance despite limited trading history and a director who does not own a home. Finding a lender whose criteria fit the circumstances and supplying clear evidence of the work and invoices was central to the outcome.

This case study has been anonymised. The five-working-day timeframe relates to this transaction’s facility setup and the funder’s release of the initial advance; the receiving bank’s subsequent checks delayed access to the money. Funding remains subject to assessment, verification and facility terms.
